Kayaking Costa Brava
We are a company that engages exclusively in promoting sea kayaking.
We operate from different points on the Costa Brava and arrange guided sea kayak excursions taking in the most emblematic and captivating sights on the coastline of the Empordà.
If what you need is gear, you will find all the specialised material you need at our shop. Besides the guided excursions from our centres on the beaches at Castell, Tamariu, Montgó and Portlligat, you can also rent out everything you need to go solo.
We also offer a broad range of personalised activities and the chance to learn everything you need to know about this sport through our beginners and advanced courses, Eskimo rolls, British Canoe Union (BCU)…
History
Kayaking Costa Brava was founded back in 1993 when kayaking was still a totally unknown sport on our coastline, thus making us pioneers in the world of sea kayaking. We are a company that was created by lovers of canoeing and nature. From the outset, our objective has always been to make the kayak an option to discover the sea and the natural heritage of the Costa Brava in a different way at the same time. The quality of our services and canoeists’ safety has always been one of our distinguishing characteristics.
From the very beginning we selected areas whose scenic and natural interest and value make them idyllic settings for canoeing. We installed our first workstations on the coast of the Mountain range of Montgrí and Tamariu (1993), followed by Platja Castell (1997), and finally Portlligat (2000).
In 1997, we opened the shop in l’Escala, where we sell specialised material with expert assessment.
Aware of the value of the natural areas that surround us, the entire Kayaking Costa Brava team is deeply committed to their preservation. For this reason, our activities are carried out in a way that respects both the environment and the local community.
With this objective in mind, between 2013 and 2023 we implemented an Integrated Management System in accordance with the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 standards at the bases where we operate: Portlligat, Montgó, Tamariu and Castell.
In 2015, continuing our commitment to quality and continuous improvement, we obtained the SICTED Tourism Quality Commitment distinction.
Our commitment to a responsible and sustainable tourism model is also reflected in our participation in the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (ECST). We have held this certification in the Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter Natural Park since 2020 and in the Cap de Creus Natural Park since 2023.
Another way of contributing to the conservation of these natural areas is by getting to know them and helping others to discover them. At Kayaking Costa Brava, we have accredited guide-instructors from both the Cap de Creus Natural Park (PNCC) and the Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter Natural Park (PNMMBT), who bring their knowledge of the local area to the activities we carry out in these protected environments.
First and foremost, we offer a premium quality service provided by trained and qualified personnel. We have specialised material to adapt to the different types of services and clients to ensure that a kayak outing can be enjoyed by everyone.
