Us and Our Environment
At Kayaking, we work in some of the most emblematic and beautiful spots of the Costa Brava, from secluded coves to wide beaches and stretches of wild coast. Our outings are an opportunity to discover up close the richness of this environment, to learn about its biodiversity, and to understand why it is so important to protect it.
A treasure we must take care of
The Costa Brava is much more than a tourist destination: it is the place where we live, home to unique species, landscapes that inspire, and a natural and cultural heritage we cannot take for granted. Every time we sail or visit it, we have the opportunity to respect it so that it remains just as magical for future generations.
What we do
We are aware that preserving this territory is not easy and that talking about “sustainability,” beyond being a popular term, can be ambiguous and even misleading. We have not set major environmental goals, but we do try to minimize the impact of our activity through small, real actions, every day, from within, which we want to share:
Key actions:
- We have organized volunteer waste collections since 2012.
- We participate in the “Let’s Clean Up Europe” campaign.
- We have incorporated environmental action bags so that our clients can also collaborate by collecting waste during activities.
- We offer local organic lemonade on guided tours as a healthy, responsible, and locally sourced alternative.
- We work with local suppliers and prioritize those with environmental criteria or quality labels.
- We collaborated with the Baix Empordà Coastal Co-Management Board in designing a leaflet and sign with environmental best practices for kayaking.
- We provide environmental leaflets on the beaches and run digital awareness campaigns.
- All our facilities have informational signs with environmental best practices.
- Before each activity, we offer an “ecobriefing” to inform and raise awareness among clients.
- We provide waterproof guides with information on flora, fauna, and geology of the Montgrí and Cap de Creus Natural Parks.
- We collaborate with the Montgrí Natural Park and Cap de Creus Natural Park with discovery and awareness-raising activities such as Kayak-Nature.
- We are an official information point of the Montgrí NP (Cala Montgó) and the Cap de Creus NP (Portlligat).
- We have installed solar panels at our Portlligat and Castell bases.
- We use sustainable materials such as certified wood and eco-friendly paints in our beach structures.
- We have acquired a recyclable polyethylene boat, more sustainable and less toxic for the marine environment than conventional fiberglass ones.
- The sea kayaks we use are made of rotomolded polyethylene, a 100% recyclable material.
- We provide continuous environmental training to our guides, who are officially accredited park guides.

How you can help take care of the Costa Brava:
- Leave no trace: when you come paddling with us, make sure you leave no waste behind and, if possible, pick up trash you find at sea.
- Respect wildlife: watch birds, fish, and plants from a distance, without disturbing them. Their home is sacred.
- Use non-toxic products: sunscreen and creams without toxins are the best friends of the sea and your health!
- Learn and share: listen to our guides when they talk about the ecosystem and share what you learn.
- Join our actions: participate in beach clean-ups or conservation talks.
We’ll be waiting for you at sea, to discover and protect it together.
