This is why all our activities are conducted in a way totally environmentally and socially respectful way. We want to take things a step further with your help.
Cleaning the Coast with Kayaks
Information
Due to our awareness of the importance of protecting natural spaces, every season we organise, together with the town or city councils involved and other associations and companies, a kayak-based cleaning of the coasts of Tamariu (Palafrugell), Castell – Cap Roig (Palamós) and Portlligat (Cadaqués). We provide our experience, personnel and equipment: all we need is your cooperation as a volunteer to make it all possible. And all together we will clean a stretch of coastline, enjoy a kayak outing, make new friends and generally speaking just have a whale of a time!
This activity consists of cleaning the rubbish that we find on the beached as we paddle along the coast in kayaks. We do it in individual or double sit-on-top kayaks to facilitate cleaning and to make sure that the activity is suitable for everyone.
To make this possible we need the help of volunteers that want to lend a helping hand. No experience or special physical condition is required. The activity is carried out in the morning and lasts for 4 hours.
We provide, totally free of charge, all the material that you need: kayak, paddle, jacket and refuse bags. The Kayaking monitors/guides oversee and control everything from a kayak and a support vessel that is also used to collect any refuse found.
And after the cleaning, everyone will be treated to a snack.
Specific details about each Cleaning activity
Cleaning at Tamariu is done jointly with the Giroguies company and the Associació d’Amics i Veïns de Tamariu. You can participate by cleaning the sea from a kayak or on the land via a walking route (organised by Giroguies).
Cleaning at Platja Castell is done jointly with the Department of the Environment of Palamós and the Town Council of Palamós.
Cleaning at Portllligat is done jointly with the Escola d’en Mar and the Town Council of Cadaqués.
Information of interest for the Activity
Duration: 4 h.
Material: KAYAKING COSTA BRAVA provides all the technical material (kayak, paddles and jacket) and refuse bags free of charge.
Recommended gear: closed footwear that will not slip off the feet and can get wet (like pumps or old trainers), latex gloves or the like for collecting the refuse, sunglasses (with some kind of fastening), bathing costume or trousers that can get wet, t-shirt that can get wet, sun screen cream, cap, windcheater or the like in case the weather is cool and water to stay hydrated.
