The beginner’s course last four hours and covers the following concepts:
- Difference and comparison between the different types of kayaks and accessories used currently.
- Names and uses of the main parts.
- Correct paddle movement, optimal positioning of the body and footrest.
- Boarding and alighting from kayaks from beach and rocks.
- Turning, braking, correcting direction, circular paddling and backward paddling.
- Sideways movement of the kayak.
- Basic rescue and self-rescue techniques: getting back into the kayak after capsizing, alone or accompanied, Eskimo rescue, bailing out water and use of the “paddle float”
- Support techniques with the paddle, waist compensation, leaning to the side and turns with leaning.
